We’ve been fans of Butternut Box since the beginning, their vision, their ethics, their work with animal charities and of course their food, which happens to be Vinnie’s favourite! We are thrilled that they agreed to sponsor the ‘Remarkable Rescue’ category in our Charity Dog Awards. We can’t wait to welcome them to PAAWstival 2021 and introduce them to our guests (hopefully that’s you!).
Who are Butternut Box?
Butternut Box believes that ‘good enough for the dog’ is not good enough. Dogs deserve better. They’re taking dog food out of the bin bag aisle and replacing it with freshly prepared meals, delivered to your door.
The story,
It all started with a dog who couldn’t stop farting, called Rudie, and two friends who wanted to build a company that delivers health and happiness, called Kev and Dave.
When Dave’s family rescued Rudie after she’d been abandoned, she was in a really bad way. Her skin was sore, her mood was low and her farts were... terrible, to be honest. After months of vet visits, they began to think Rudie’s diet could be the problem.
They started to cook her meals from scratch - sourcing and gently cooking healthy ingredients, and developing the perfect recipe. In just weeks, Rudie’s well-being transformed. Her sore skin and farts went away, and her energy came back. When Dave told Kev about Rudie’s recovery, they went to their local supermarket, stood in the dog food section alongside the bin liners and bleach, and decided that the four-legged family members of the world deserved better. By day they worked in the City. By night they delivered freshly made food to dogs. After months of doing two jobs, Kev and Dave knew that they needed to choose just one.
They picked dogs. And in March 2016, Butternut Box was born.
Giving back & PAAWstival.
Butternut Box all started because they wanted to help. And that desire to help has grown as they have. They are proud to work with some brilliant charity partners and for every new dog that signs up, they also donate a gently cooked meal to those less fortunate.
One of Butternut’s charity partners is Wild at Heart Foundation which is one of the reasons they are especially excited to be supporting PAAWstival 2021. Butternut Box are so delighted to be supporting the ‘Remarkable Rescue’ category in the charity dog show. They will also have a stand so hope to meet you all there!
