PAAWstival 2021 - Review

SOCIAL
by Gabby Kuehn

As plans for PAAWstival 2022 get well under way we wanted to reflect on our first live PAAWstival event. With a pandemic to contend with we certainly encountered some bumps in the road, but thanks to our amazing community of friends and supporters we pulled it off and had a great time in the process.

The Highs and Lows

There were more highs than lows of course and we don’t tend to focus on lows anyway. We were disappointed that we had to scale back our event, but it was defiantly the right decision at the time. It was great to have the opportunity to host the event with our friends at Drake and Morgan and to see so many of you on the day as well as receive all your lovely messages and feedback.

The Winners

We consider everyone who took part in the PAAWstival Charity Dog Awards winners. Your participation enabled us to raise money for our charities Wild at Heart Foundation and StreetVet, it also allowed us to donate to the Nowzad rescue and our guest charities.

Congratulation to our 3 winners. The judges had a tough job resulting in a three-way tie. Our finalists chose to split the £10k prize rather than go back in front of the judges. Thank you and top marks to Belinha, Dexter and Rudy. A big round of APAAWS for our runners up Quinn, Diego, Winter and Goose.

Thank You

We all know that you can’t have a great party without great friends, and we are very fortunate to have them in abundance. Thanks to everyone who made the event special for PAAW House and our charity partners. The day would not have been the same without our amazing host Anna Webb, who even made the time to record a podcast with the help of Mike Hanson and Pod Productions.

Thanks to our judges; Collette Cooper, Nikki Tibbles, Awon Golding and Joseph Sinclair, who had the tough task of selecting the winners. We loved the amazing line up of talented artists; Brooke Sounds, Cristina Habina, Ros from the Royal Arsenal School of Piano, Frankie Andrews & Josephine Julie (the fabulously talented artists, turned stilt walkers for our big day). Thanks also to Aurelie Four for capturing the event with her wonderful photography and Tilly from Team Dogs for the live recording.

Of course, no event would be complete without our VIPP pups and canine charity supporters; Burly Bear Pom, Dino, Star, Todd & Cooper, Gizmo, Bonnie, Milo, Barry, Lilly, Walter, Elmo, Digby, and Leo to name a few. Not all could join us on the day but their support behind the scenes was invaluable.

Experts and friends who shared their wonderful projects with our guests; Hayley Miller from Paws and Restore, Jen Berezai from AdvoCATS and Rachel Hudson from Wild at Heart Foundation, your contribution was wonderful.

The biggest thanks go to all those who took part in our Charity Dog Awards and joined us on the day at the fabulous dog friendly Happenstance Bar. Thanks to you and our sponsors Vertus you helped us raise just under £20 for our charities.

Final shout out to Dog Co for the beautiful handmade PAAW House Dog Beds which were a big hit with our guests. The beds are available to purchase on their website with 30% of the profits split between Wild at Heart Foundation and StreetVet.
