Overview: We love our days out to the seaside! One of our local favourites is the short train journey to Leigh-On-Sea followed by a visit to the Crooked Billet. A dog friendly pub with unique character in a traditional setting, the Crooked Billet is the oldest pub in town. The pub sits opposite Billet Wharf, home to the famous Osbourne Brothers Cockle Sheds, a family run business which has been serving seafood in Leigh-On-Sea since 1880.

Random Fact:

The fishing community at Leigh has been going for around 1,000 years, inhabited by infamous naval names such as Richard Haddock. In Herge's adventures of Tintin, it is thought that Richard Haddock was one of the inspirations for Captain Haddock's 17th century ancestor, Sir Francis Haddock.
